ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL IMPACT REPORT
Through this whole campaign we have been concentrating on better understanding the economic and social impact of sand mining on our iconic dunes. We engaged Pracsys, a multi-disciplinary urban economics and strategy consultancy to produce a report that will assist us to take an evidence based approach to planning our collective future.
LANCELIN COMMUNITY
In January 2023 a community meeting formed a consensus that the 'Lancelin Sand Dunes' must be preserved in the best interests of the long term future of our town. The Lancelin Sand Dunes are a source of 'limesand' which we acknowledge is important to the farmers and to food production but that alternative sources could support agriculture and preserve our most popular community asset.

Put simply, you can mine it once, or slide down it on a sandboard forever...!
SAVE LANCELIN DUNES
Is a grassroots community led campaign to draw attention to the issue and to work in a consultative manner with the community, industry and government to preserve our dunes for future generations.

Our dunes are one of Western Australia’s Top Tourist Destinations. Attracting over 200,000 visitors to our town every year!
​
Our team is working to highlighting the issues to the community and to lobby the government and business interests.
RESPECT THE DUNES!
Our dunes change every day! As the wind blows, the sand dunes move. The stronger the wind, the more they move and change!
The wind-facing side of the dune often has a gentle slope, while the sheltered side is often much steeper. As the wind is always changing, dunes are also always changing, growing and shifting!

So always carefully check the dunes before you decide to drive or ride over a crest!
